The choice of mediums, or combination of materials is based upon three ingrediants.

  1. Aesthetic preference.
  2. Construction materials selected for the building.
  3. Available budget and time line for construction.

For instance, bronze is costly and time consuming, while the creation of polystyrene wastemolds for casting in concrete or GFRC is relatively quick and utilize materials already specified for the building.

These are the mediums most frequently used by Sheets, though he is proficient in other materials:

Story telling has been the basis for many of the sculptures and painted murals designed by Sheets. Often the story is centered around a specific ethnic culture, requiring the portrayal of the uniqueness of facial structures, clothing and gesture.

Historical story telling requires much research, and at times authentication by an historian. The main interest of this artist is in telling a story which both educates and captures the ongoing curiousity of the viewer.

Monumental artwork lends itself to architectural application and is best produced in the materials already being used in the construction of the project.

Sheets has refined many processes which take full advantage of the opportunity to enlarge the scale and content of the artwork, while remaining within the specified budget.
